YouTube has announced that its users in Canada will be able to listen to their music in the background while doing other tasks on their phones or when the screen is off.

Users will be able to exit the app, minimize their screen, or lock their phone without the music from the app interrupting. Beginning November 3, users in Canada will be able to listen to background music.

Users will be able to close the app, minimize your screen, or lock your phone without the music from the app interrupting and without having to close the message informing you background playback is available only for paying subscribers. First, background music listening will be available for users in Canada starting November 3, 2021.

Plus, there's a radio-like experience for free users, but annoying ads will still be there. With the new update, radio stations based on users’ favorite songs, albums and artists will be available. They will also be able to listen to personalized playlists on shuffle.

YouTube hasn’t mentioned a date for the release of the new features for free YouTube Music users, but it said that it will take place soon.
