YouTube, which is owned by Google, is releasing a new tool that will let users to create unique playlist art using generative AI, the company revealed on Tuesday. The new experimental functionality is now available to English language users in the United States. In the future, the business intends to expand the service to new locations and languages.
To begin, click on the current default picture of a playlist of your choice. From there, you may browse a variety of subjects, including travel, nature, landscape, fantasy, animals, and comedy. After you've chosen a topic, you may navigate through a list of prompts. For example, if you choose the animal theme, you can have a pug "in the style of a Medieval Gothic painting" or "in the style of a Pop Art painting."
After you've made your selections, click the "Create" button. You will next be presented with a selection of AI-generated photos from which to choose. When you've selected one you like, click "save" to make it the artwork for your playlist.
"The guided experience allows users to effortlessly explore from a range of visual themes and options to create one-of-a-kind cover art that expresses the uniqueness of your personal playlists," the firm stated in a blog post. "Are you having trouble finding the right artwork for your 90s R&B-inspired morning commute playlist?" Don't worry, we've got you covered."
YouTube Music also announced that it would unveil a new feature on the Home tab in the coming months that will allow users to easily jump back in and listen to the songs and artists that they have had on repeat.
When users launch the app, their recent favorites will appear at the top of the Home tab. The functionality will align YouTube Music's homepage with Spotify's, allowing users to instantly jump back in and listen to their recent favorites. According to the firm, the launch is part of its efforts to overhaul elements of the YouTube songs app to make it easier for people to search and play their favorite songs.
The new additions come as YouTube Music has been adding extra features to its service in recent months. The site just introduced a TikTok-style short-form tailored video stream called "Samples." Each clip in the feed provides a look of the artist, music video, and overall atmosphere of a song that has been recommended to you. YouTube Music has also just included timed lyrics, which allow you to follow the words on-screen as you listen, as well as Comments, which allow users to express themselves in the app.
