YouTube now offers more than 4000 TV episodes for free

More and more users are choosing YouTube as a source of entertainment on their TVs, and according to Nielsen, more than 135 million users in the US are using the service to watch content in their living room.

For this reason, Google has decided to significantly enrich its free content, enabling users in the US for the first time to watch free episodes of popular TV series (over 4000+) such as Hell's Kitchen, Andromeda and Heartland, just in the videos will appear ads from time to time.

The company also offers more than 1,500 Disney movies, Warner Bros., Lionsgate, FilmRise, Paramount Pictures, etc., with the latest additions being Legaly Blonde, Gone in Sixty Seconds and Runaway Bride.

At the same time, the YouTube application is being updated for TVs with new menus and a clearer way of navigating for an easier user experience. Most TV episodes offer 1080p resolution with support for 5.1 surround sound.

For now, free YouTube content is only available to users in the US and it remains to be seen if something similar will happen to the rest of the world.
