Aerion AS3 will fly from NYC to London in less than an hour

Aerion has announced the AS3, a new, supersonic, commercial aircraft that will be able to fly from New York to London in less than an hour, at four times the speed of sound (Mach 4+).

Aerion AS3 will take off first in the celestial within the decade and will be able to carry 50 passengers at a distance of 7,000 nautical miles. Aerion expand its cooperation with the Langley Research of NASA Center, because it plans to accelerate “the realization of commercial high-speed flight and faster point-to-point travel, specifically studying commercial flight in the Mach 3-5 range [2302 mph to 3836 mph].”

According to Tom Weiss, President and CEO of the company: 

At Aerion our vision is to create a future where humanity can travel between two points on our planet in three hours. Ultrasonic flight is the starting point, but it's just the beginning. In order to truly revolutionize global mobility as we know it today, we need to push the boundaries of what is possible.

Finally, the company simultaneously feverishly working on the design of AS2, a smaller supersonic aircraft and maintains that production will start in 2023.In fact, NetJets, a private aircraft leasing and rental company, has already pre-ordered 20 AS2s.
