YouTube is launching a new AI function aimed at benefiting creators. The new AI music remix tool enables users to remix any licensed song and create unique 30-second music for their Shorts. The tool is still being tested and is only available to a select number of YouTube creators.

Those with access to YouTube's AI music remix feature can adjust various aspects of the music by entering a prompt. For example, you can change the song's atmosphere from joyous to melancholy or its genre from hip-hop to pop.

YouTube says:

If you’re a creator in the experiment group, you can select an eligible song > describe how you want to restyle it > then generate a unique 30-second soundtrack to use in your Short.

These restyled soundtracks will have clear attribution to the original song through the Short itself and the Shorts audio pivot page, and will also clearly indicate that the track was restyled with AI

YouTube has begun introducing AI elements into its platform. YouTube Premium subscribers already have an AI conversational tool that allows them to learn about the videos they are watching. Furthermore, Gemini AI can now play music from YouTube Music just by requesting.

The video streaming company is also testing the Dream Track function, which "creates soundtracks using the AI-generated voices of artists who have chosen to participate - Alec Benjamin, Charlie Puth, Charli XCX, Demi Lovato, John Legend, Papoose, Sia, T-Pain, and Troye Sivan."

The new YouTube AI music remix tool is an expansion of the "Dream Track" feature, which is currently being tested. However, it is unknown which songs can be remixed or whose music label YouTube is collaborating with.
