Anthropic introduced the Claude Android app on Tuesday in order to reach a larger audience with its AI chatbot. This is Anthropic's newest attempt to persuade people to abandon ChatGPT by making Claude available in more locations.

The Claude Android app, like the iOS version released in May, offers free access to Anthropic's top AI model, Claude 3.5 Sonnet, as well as improved plans through Pro and Team subscriptions. Users will be able to sync their talks with Claude across several devices and add photographs or files to the app for real-time image analysis. The Claude Android app also contains real-time language translation, which Anthropic thinks will provide a compelling cause for users to open it.

Additionally, the app enables enterprise customers to access their Claude accounts via mobile.

Although Anthropic says that their AI models are technically comparable to OpenAI and Google's offerings, the company has struggled to establish momentum with customers. The Claude iOS app received a lukewarm response upon its launch two months ago, with only 157,000 global downloads in its first week. In contrast, the ChatGPT iOS app received 480,000 installs in its first five days.
