Apple has officially introduced the redesigned MacBook Pro powered by its new powerful M1 Pro and M1 Max, the first pro chips designed for the Mac.

The MacBook Pro - available in 14- and 16-inch models - provides unprecedented processing, graphics, and machine learning (ML) performance whether operating on battery or plugged in, as well as incredible battery life.

M1 Pro / M1 Max

Both are built in 5nm scale and feature a powerful up-to-10-core CPU with eight high-performance cores and two high-efficiency cores. The difference is in the GPU, since the M1 Pro reaches an up to 16-core GPU and the M1 Max an up to 32-core GPU. Additionally, the M1 Pro also delivers up to 200GB/s of memory bandwidth and supports up to 32GB of fast unified memory and the M1 Max has up to 400GB/s of memory bandwidth and up to 64GB of fast unified memory.

The MacBook Pro features a brand-new design and comes in 14.2-inch and 16.2-inch display sizes. The 14.2-inch model has a thickness of 15.5mm and weighs 3.5 pounds, while the 16.2-inch model is 16.8mm and weighs 4.7 pounds. The all-new aluminum enclosure has an entirely new thermal design. It is still available in Silver and Space Gray.

There are also additional ports available, with an HDMI port, a Thunderbolt 4 port, and an SDXC card reader on the right side of the computer. On the left side of the machine, we have a MagSafe 3 port, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, and a headphone jack. The keyboard now has a full-height function key row in place of the Touch Bar and the entire keyboard area is black.

Furthermore, the new MacBook Pro comes with improved studio-quality mics and speakers that support Spatial Audio, with the 16-inch model containing a six-speaker system. The display borders of the MacBook Pro are reduced, with a cut out of the top of the display for the camera. The webcam now has a 1080p resolution, a larger image sensor, and an improved image signal processor.

The display is a mini-LED Liquid Retina XDR display with ProMotion for refresh rates of up to 120Hz. The Liquid Retina XDR display offers 1,000 nits of sustained brightness, 1,600 nits of peak brightness, and a million to one contrast ratio.

Apple said that the 14-inch models can play video for 14 hours, and the 16-inch model manages 21 hours, and both charge to 50% in 30 minutes.

The price of the 14-inch MacBook Pro will start at $1,999, while the new 16-inch MacBook Pro will start at $2,499.
