The Auto-Tracking Stand Pro, the world's first iPhone accessory that works with DockKit, will be unveiled at CES 2024 by accessory manufacturer Belkin.
With its 360-degree pan and 90-degree tilt capabilities, this motorized iPhone stand records subjects on camera as they move around an area using Apple's automatic tracking technology. According to Belkin, it's made for filming engaging content with a lot of movement or immersive video conversations.
iPhones can function as the main computer for motorized camera stands thanks to Apple's DockKit API (Application Programming Interface). Although the functionality was initially revealed at WWDC 2023 and made available with iOS 17 in September, Belkin's Auto-Tracking Stand Pro is the first accessory to receive Apple certification as "Works with DockKit."
The Auto-Tracking Stand Pro is MagSafe compatible and works with any iPhone model released after the iPhone 12. When plugged in, it provides quick wireless charging up to 15W. Additionally, Belkin claims that the rechargeable battery will allow for up to five hours of power life for taking pictures while on the go.Convenient single-button activation is provided by the stand, and an LED indication will show whether tracking is enabled or not.
Content producers are the target market for Belkin's Auto-Tracking Stand Pro, as stated in a statement from Melody Tecson, vice president of product management at Belkin. "We're excited to provide content creators with a thoughtfully designed product that will effortlessly enhance the creation process," Tecson said. However, it is possible that professionals in the fields of fitness, education, and healthcare could find value in the company's newest accessory.
Sadly, it won't be inexpensive. The world's first DockKit-certified product comes at a price, and Belkin has revealed that the Auto-Tracking Stand Pro will cost $179.99 when it goes on sale in the coming months.
