It is time to return to the Lands Between. Bandai Namco, the creator of the open-world role-playing game, unveiled the first trailer for its expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree, revealing a release date. Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree will be out June 21.
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree was unveiled in February, but developer FromSoftware hasn't shared anything about their DLC for 2022's Game of the Year. "Rise, Tarnished, and let us walk a new path together," the creator declared back then. "A new addition for Elden Ring, Shadow of the Erdtree, is presently in development. We hope you are looking forward to fresh experiences in the Lands Between.
The setting and main characters of Shadow of the Erdtree were teased in a single piece of artwork revealed at the DLC's announcement. The artwork contains a reference to Miquella of the Haligtree, a demigod and Empyrean who is the twin brother of the terrifying Malenia. This figure was not included in the original Elden Ring. Miquella gets taunted during the struggle against Mohg as he is confined within an uncomfortable egg sac.
In the expansion, players will trail Miquella into the Land of Shadow, where they will encounter a difficult new foe: Messmer the Impaler, a fearsome enemy with a close link to Miquella and Malenia.
Elden Ring is available on PS4, PS5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. of the Erdtree will be available on these platforms as well.
