Facebook makes it easier to transfer your data to other services

Facebook announced that it’s updating its Transfer Your Information tool to make it easier for users to download the info that Facebook has on them and transfer it to other platforms if they like.

The Transfer Your Information tool allows users to have more control over their data, such as transferring notes and posts to Google Docs, Blogger and Wordpress.com, as well as photos and videos to Backbaze, Dropbox, Google Photos and Koofr. In addition, the tool now supports a new data type: Facebook Events.

How to use Facebook’s updated tool

1. Open Facebook and head to your settings
2. Click on “Your Facebook Information” followed by “Transfer Your Information”
3. You’ll then be asked to re-enter your password and choose the destination and data you want to move

The improvements, according to Facebook's Alexandru Voica, will be especially beneficial to users on mobile devices.

“We know that 98.3% of Facebook users are on mobile devices when accessing the platform — so we’re making it easier for people who are mobile-first (or mobile-only) to transfer a copy of their information directly, from Facebook to other services,” he tweeted.
