Meta revealed that Facebook users can create several personal profiles. The functionality is now rolling out globally, and it will do so for the foreseeable future. Not long ago, the social media juggernaut updated the Facebook logo and identification system.
Users of Facebook are permitted to create up to four additional personal profiles, each with a unique name and @username. Users will be able to create separate locations for various requirements and interests thanks to these unique profiles. Users can, for instance, create several Facebook profiles for connecting with friends and for things they are enthusiastic about.
Creating multiple personal profiles lets you easily organize who you share with and what content you see for the various parts of your life. Think one profile for the foodie scene you love and another one to keep up with your friends and family.
Tap on your profile photo in the bottom right corner of the Facebook app to make a new profile. Tap the drop-down arrow next to your name on the following screen. Select "Create new profile" and proceed as instructed.
Since users will be able to engage with communities and others that share their interests, each personal profile will have its own distinctive Feed with pertinent content. Additionally, users won't need to log out of their accounts to navigate between different profiles.
According to Meta, new profiles will have default settings, providing users with a fresh start. They won't save current profiles' notification and privacy settings. There will still be distinct settings for each profile for things like who may send friend requests and who can view profile posts.
The business reminded users that actual names must still be used for the primary Facebook profile in accordance with its current policies. The primary Facebook profile won't indicate that a person has multiple profiles, and they are free to choose other names for those profiles.
We remain committed to preventing impersonation and identity misrepresentation, so additional profiles cannot impersonate others or be used to misrepresent your identity (including your age or location).
Existing and new users of Facebook can both create personal profiles. Only adult accounts who meet the criteria will have access to a second personal profile, according to Meta. At debut, some features—including dating, marketplace, payments, and professional mode—are not accessible to extra profiles.
The Facebook app and the website will also support messaging for users with additional personal profiles. In the upcoming months, the business intends to provide support for more profiles in Messenger.
