Google released numerous improvements today to improve the speed and availability of Gemini features.
First, Google is releasing an updated 2.0 Flash Thinking Experimental model, which is touted to be more efficient, faster, and supports capabilities such as file uploads. Google believes that this model will provide better results since it is trained to break down prompts into a series of reasoning processes. Gemini Advanced users will benefit from a 1M token context window in the new 2.0 Flash Thinking Experimental, allowing them to use it for more complicated tasks.
The Gemini Deep Research feature now uses the Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking Experimental model, which enhances planning, searching, reasoning, analysis, and reporting. As a result, customers will be able to generate higher-quality, multi-page reports. Following in DeepSeek's footsteps, Gemini Deep Research now shows its thought process when executing jobs.
Deep Research has been upgraded and is now available in more than 45 languages worldwide. This new option will also be available a few times per month for free users, with Gemini Advanced users having more access.
Google also unveiled a new experimental capability called personalisation, which is based on the Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking Experimental Model. With this new feature, Gemini connects to Google apps and services, beginning with Search, to provide personalised responses. For example, if a user asks Gemini for shoe recommendations, it will refer to their recent shoe-related queries. Users can enable the new functionality by selecting "Personalisation (experimental)" from the model drop-down menu.
Gemini now supports more Google apps in English, including as Calendar, Notes, Tasks, and Photos. These applications will be provided using the new 2.0 Flash Thinking Experimental paradigm. With this feature, customers can instruct Gemini to "Look up an easy cookie recipe on YouTube, add the ingredients to my shopping list, and find me grocery stores that are still open nearby."
Finally, Google stated that Gems will be free for all users on the Gemini app. Gemini wants to become a more important part of users' daily life by connecting with additional Google services and providing improved personalisation options.
