Back in 2021 Google had launched the BIMI (Brand Indicators for Message Identification) system for Gmail, a feature that requires businesses to use strong account protection and to certify their logo so that it appears as an avatar in their emails.
Now, the company is back with another addition, the famous blue tick that will appear next to the company name in their emails so that recipients can be sure that the email is coming from them and not from a scammer, spammer or hacker.
As you can see in the Google example in the main image of the article, next to their name is the distinctive blue tick symbol and when you touch the mouse tip on it a pop-up window appears informing you that the sender of this email is authenticated.
Ordinary end users don't need to do anything to see the blue ticks, but corporate account managers will need to request for the blue tick in the BIMI system. The certification process takes 1-3 days and then the tick will appear on all user accounts (personal, G Suite or Google Workspace).
A small move, but undoubtedly very important to counter the increasing attempts to defraud users.
