Google is holding its annual developer conference from May 20 to 21. The main event will take place at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California, like it always does. Google CEO Sundar Pichai will deliver the opening speech, followed by developer and technical sessions.

Google said that it will livestream the main keynotes and sessions at I/O 2025, and we also received a fantastic Prism Shift puzzle game that revealed the I/O 2025 date.

Google I/O is more than simply a developer conference; it has traditionally included the formal launch of the current Android version and new hardware products. Last year's I/O saw over 100 announcements, including the Gemini 1.5 models, the Imagen 3 image generation model, the Project Astra AI helper, and others.

This year's I/O appears to be another AI-focused event, with teasers pointing to upgrades on the open-source Gemma AI models, Google AI Studio, and NotebookLM. We should also get an update on Android 16, which is presently in public beta, with a stable release rumoured for March.

Google has frequently previewed forthcoming hardware devices at I/O, so a peek of the Pixel 10 series isn't surprising.
