Google has officially unveiled Google Skills, a unified learning platform designed to help individuals and organizations master the technologies shaping the future — especially artificial intelligence. With nearly 3,000 courses, labs, and certifications, the platform brings together content from Google Cloud, Google DeepMind, Grow with Google, and Google for Education. It aims to become the central destination for anyone eager to build, validate, and expand their expertise in the age of AI.

For over twenty years, Google has invested in helping people around the world develop digital skills. Now, as demand for AI knowledge reaches unprecedented levels, Google Skills seeks to make learning smarter, more accessible, and more engaging. Whether you’re a student taking your first steps into AI, a professional looking to get certified, or a business leader exploring how to integrate AI into your organization, this new platform offers the tools and flexibility to grow at your own pace.

Google Skills gives learners direct access to courses designed by Google experts across multiple domains. Over the past year alone, more than 26 million courses, labs, and credentials have been completed — and now, they are all available in one place. A newcomer might begin with the Google AI Essentials course from Grow with Google before progressing to more advanced certifications from Google Cloud. Those interested in AI research can explore Google DeepMind’s AI Research Foundations to deepen their understanding of large language models. For those short on time, the platform offers quick 10-minute learning sessions called AI Boost Bites.

Leaders of large enterprises and government organizations can also benefit from tailored content. Courses such as Future-Proof Your AI Learning Strategy provide frameworks for scaling AI adoption across teams, featuring insights from executives at Telus and Deutsche Bank.

Google Skills emphasizes experiential learning through interactive labs and projects. Learners can put theory into practice and earn credentials like skill badges, entry-level certificates, and full professional certifications. Many labs are powered by Gemini Code Assist, Google’s advanced coding companion that helps learners dive straight into real-world programming scenarios. The platform also introduces specialized skill badges linked to Gemini Code Assist, allowing users to demonstrate technical proficiency in a tangible way.

Recognizing that motivation is key to successful learning, Google has infused the platform with gamified elements. According to Google, 95 percent of learners are more likely to stay engaged in a gamified environment. Features such as learning streaks, milestone achievements, and shareable progress updates keep users motivated and connected to their learning journey.

Beyond individual learners, Google Skills is designed for organizations looking to strengthen their teams’ capabilities. Cloud customers can customize training paths, assign specific learning modules, and track employee progress through an advanced reporting hub. Leaderboards and company-wide challenges help create a culture of continuous learning while keeping engagement levels high.

Google’s focus on skill development extends beyond education — it also supports hiring and workforce transformation. Through its hiring consortium of more than 150 employers, Google has already helped thousands of graduates from Google Career Certificate programs find employment. Now, the company is advancing skills-based hiring through new initiatives with partners like Jack Henry. By recognizing credentials earned through Google Skills — such as Google Cloud Certificates — employers can fast-track qualified candidates directly into roles that need them most. This approach not only helps learners secure jobs more efficiently but also enables businesses to fill critical talent gaps.

One of Google Skills’ defining principles is accessibility. The platform offers numerous no-cost learning paths for individuals at every level. Those new to AI can start with foundational content like the Generative AI Leader path, which requires no prior technical background.

For Google Cloud customers, the entire on-demand learning library is available at no additional cost. Developers can access up to 35 free credits each month to complete hands-on labs, while universities, government institutions, nonprofits, and NGOs can tap into free training opportunities through the Career Launchpad program.
