Drivers will benefit from changes to Google Maps and Waze, including additional parking tools and traffic enforcement notifications.
Google Maps has received a significant improvement that will provide drivers with more accurate directions to their location, including parking options. This will involve lighting up the place on your map, emphasizing the entry to its parking lot, and displaying neighboring parking lots that are easy to navigate to.
This would have been extremely useful during vacation, as traversing some of the villages and cities is sometimes a problem. Instead of stressing about finding parking while navigating traffic constraints and road hazards, the user might have simply used Google Maps. Soon, this feature will be available on Android and iOS devices, as well as automobiles with Google Built-in, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay.
Maps also gains a community incident reporting tool. The service is still available, but with larger reporting symbols, it will be easier to report construction activity, lane closures, and other impediments - which is currently being rolled out globally.
If you prefer Waze, Google's other maps service will continue to receive updates. On the community reporting front, Waze is adding alerts for new speed and traffic enforcement camera types, such as those that detect if you're wearing a seatbelt, speeding, running a red light, or using a lane you shouldn't be, which are added by community members using real-world road data and publicly available data from local governments.
In addition, you will be able to share real-time traffic information with friends in Waze based on current happenings. For example, if a concert or sporting event is taking place near a location you've saved or recently visited, Waze will not only notify you of the impact on traffic and road closures, but it will also allow you to share this information with your friends and family to assist them on their journey. This, as well as the previous Waze feature, is now available worldwide for Android and iOS.
