Google has officially announced that it will merge its two video-calling applications, Duo and Meet, in order to offer a single and unique service without confusing users. The merger will start next month, when the Google Meet functions will be integrated in the Google Duo application, while later in 2022 the Duo will be renamed… Meet!
During these two years of the pandemic, Google Meet has become a powerful tool for teleconferencing and has been enriched with various functions found in applications - messaging services (eg group chats), while the Google Duo has remained largely a conventional messaging application more reminiscent of Apple FaceTime.
In any case, from next month you will be able to schedule teleconferences through the Google Duo (limit increase from 32 to 100 users), watch subtitles in real time, use other tools - services of the company (e.g. Gmail, Calendar, Assistant), to share content with all participants and of course to chat via video conferencing.
