Since Memories was integrated into Google Photos three years ago, it has been the start of a continuous evolution of the service into more than just a photo and video storage app. Today Memories is one of the most popular sections of Google Photos and more than 3.5 billion Memories are watched by users around the world every month.

Google wants to improve the function, even more, presenting the biggest update we've seen to date in Memories, while also adding a Collage Editor to create your collages from your photos.

With today's update, Memories will show short clips from larger videos you have stored in Google Photos. The service automatically selects and cuts the best clips to relive your most important moments. Even simple photos will have a more dynamic look thanks to the zoom that adds a little movement to them. Also, from next month, orchestral music will be added.

Cinematic Memories, the most vivid and 3D presentations of your photos, are greatly enhanced by transforming multiple photos into an end-to-end cinematic experience that takes you back in time. The music will also come to Cinematic Memories to make them look like a movie.

Drawing inspiration from old albums, Google Photos brings Styles that add an artistic touch to users' photos. At launch, we will see various such filters, and regularly there will be some limited-time suggestions from famous artists.

Memories in Google Photos are only visible to each user, but users have long been asking for the ability to share with family and friends. This starts today on Android devices, and soon we expect it on iOS devices and the web version of the service.
