Earlier this year, Meta began testing subscriptions to profiles of content creators and Instagram influencers, opening up a new revenue channel to keep them on its platform. Now, the company is taking the next step and announcing through the head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, the new features directly related to subscriptions.
Specifically, content creators on Instagram will be able to post photos and Reels that will be visible only to subscribers who pay a subscription. These posts will be marked with a new purple icon that includes a crown inside it or the word “exclusive”.
Also, content creators will be able to open group chats from photos or stories with up to 30 participants, which will be supported by the Facebook Messenger platform and will automatically close after 24 hours of their creation.
Instagram users can currently subscribe to content creator profiles at a cost of €0.99 to €99.99 per month, depending on what the creator decides. In addition to exclusive content, subscribers also see a separate tab that includes all of the creator's photos, archived Stories, and Reels.
It should be noted that Meta does not receive any commission from creator revenue until the end of 2024, so it is a good lure to attract as many people as possible to their platforms.
