Apple has officially unveiled the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, the most advanced Pro models in its history, with Dynamic Island - a new way to experience iPhone - and the Always-On display. Powered by an A16 Bionic processor, the fastest chipset ever put into a smartphone, the first 48MP iPhone camera with quad-pixel binning, and the Photonic Engine for dramatically improved low-light shots.
These ground-breaking upgrades make the iPhone the ultimate tool for everyday processes, creative projects and emergency situations with the new Crash Detection and Emergency SOS via Satellite functions.
iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will be available in four colors (Deep Purple, Silver, Gold, Space Black), with pre-orders starting on September 9, 2022 and deliveries starting on September 16, 2022.
iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max come with surgical stainless steel construction and matte glass in four impressive colors. Available in 6.1'' and 6.7'' sizes respectively, both come with a new Super Retina XDR ProMotion display and Always-On capability for the first time on an iPhone that operates at a refresh rate of just 1 Hz, as well as many energy-friendly technologies. These make the new Lock Screen even more useful to host the clock, widgets and Live Activities in one place. The advanced display offers a peak brightness of up to 2000nits outdoors, double that of the iPhone 13 Pro.
In addition, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are the top in durability thanks to the Ceramic Cover coating that protects them from splashes and accidents with water and dust.
Dynamic Island brings new ways to interact with iPhone, with a design that blurs the lines between hardware and software, adapting in real time to display important notifications and activities. With the introduction of Dynamic Island, the TrueDepth camera has been redesigned to take up less space. Without interfering with the content displayed on the screen, the Dynamic Island remains active and allows users to manage it by touching it. Various activities running in the background, such as the Maps and Music apps, remain visible and interactive, while third-party iOS 16 apps provide information such as match scores.
The new camera system of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max pushes the boundaries of mobile photography to new heights, giving the everyday or professional user the ability to take the best photos and videos.
The Photonic Engine dramatically improves low-light performance for shooting with all sensors: 2x with the 48MP main sensor, 3x with the ultrawide camera and 2x with the telephoto camera. By bringing Deep Fusion technology into the equation, image quality is dramatically improved for unprecedented levels of detail, color and information.
For the first time, the Pro series comes with a 48MP quad-pixel main sensor that adapts to the image and features a second-generation optical image stabilization system. Most shots are made with a combination of 4 pixels in 1, as a result of which the photo size remains at 12MP, but with terrible clarity in low light conditions. The main sensor gives the option for 2x zoom at 12MP and 4K video recording without digital zoom. It also supports shooting in ProRAW mode for professional photographers and videographers.
The new camera system also includes the following:
New security features bring groundbreaking features to the new iPhones. The new dual-core accelerometer has the ability to detect G force up to 256G, while a new technology gyroscope has been installed. With Crash Detection, the iPhone can sense that the user has been involved in a serious car accident and automatically notify the relevant authorities. This feature is based on both the hardware and a special algorithm of the company that has been trained for millions of hours in real conditions.
Regarding Emergency SOS via Satellite, the iPhone now has the ability to connect to a satellite network in areas where there is no terrestrial network coverage. Users can send messages via the satellite network, as well as report their exact location when in an emergency.
The new A16 Bionic chipset is generations ahead of the competition and unlocks unique features such as Dynamic Island and advanced photography functions, while providing at least a day of battery life on a single charge. It features a 6-core CPU that is 40% faster than the competition, a 5-core GPU that offers 50% more bandwidth to handle the most demanding mobile games and applications, and a 16-core Neural Engine that performs nearly 17 trillion processes per second.
