In perhaps the worst period in terms of public acceptance, Meta has decided to announce that it will bring even more ads to Instagram, taking into account the recent backlash from users due to the platform's heavy shift towards videos. It's not shying away, though, and that's why we'll soon be seeing ads inside the Explore tab's main screen, public profiles, and Reels.

Starting with the Explore tab, until today we saw ads when we opened a post and kept scrolling down. Now we will see ads directly in the original grid of photos - videos that Instagram suggests and as you can see in the screenshot, these ads will take up four times the space, will be labeled Sponsored and have a Learn More button.

Regarding profiles, when you choose to see all the posts of a public person (open profile that is), then advertising content will appear there as well. The company makes it clear, however, that this will not happen in the profiles of underage users.

Finally, some Reels will display 4 to 10 second ads after the first play is complete, which the user will be able to skip. Facebook Reels will also display an ad in the horizontal carousel.

Meta is looking for ways to increase turnover (and profits), as the previous fiscal quarter was the first in the company's history to see a decline in turnover.
