After weeks of speculation and a leaked Italian launch poster, Samsung has officially announced the release date for its latest smartphone, the Galaxy S25 Edge. In a press release published via its newsroom and social media channels, the tech giant confirmed that the new device—touted as Samsung’s slimmest Galaxy phone yet—will debut on May 13 at 9 AM KST in South Korea. For U.S. audiences, the launch will take place a day earlier, on May 12 at 8 PM EDT, earlier than the previously rumored May 30 date.
Samsung’s announcement is accompanied by a teaser video, highlighting the device’s design and its central theme: combining AI innovation with sleek portability. The company emphasized that while artificial intelligence has brought smartphones into a new era of smart functionality, consumer demand is increasingly shifting toward devices that offer high-end performance without compromising on portability and elegance.
The Galaxy S25 Edge is designed to be more than just slim. With a remarkable 5.84mm thickness, it redefines expectations for premium devices, all while maintaining advanced capabilities. It will feature a 200MP wide-angle main camera, described by Samsung as offering "pro-grade capabilities to intuitively capture the world around you." The camera system is enhanced by Galaxy AI, which assists throughout the photography process—from shooting to editing and sharing, offering a seamless and intelligent user experience.
In terms of design and hardware, the Galaxy S25 Edge will reportedly be available in three titanium color variants and weigh just 162 grams, aligning with the standard Galaxy S25 model. The back panel is rumored to be crafted from ceramic, adding a luxurious touch, and the device will house a 3,900 mAh battery, offering respectable endurance for a device of its size.
Samsung also highlighted its pre-reservation program. Interested customers can visit Samsung’s website to pre-register for the Galaxy S25 Edge, earning a $50 Samsung credit in the process. This credit can be used toward accessories or other purchases on Samsung.com, providing an added incentive for early adopters.
With this release, Samsung appears set to reinforce its leadership in the premium smartphone market, offering a device that blends cutting-edge AI features with exceptional industrial design. As competition heats up in the ultra-portable flagship segment, the Galaxy S25 Edge could serve as a key differentiator in Samsung’s lineup, promising both style and substance.
The official launch event is expected to offer more details on pricing, availability, and regional rollout, but for now, the countdown to one of 2025's most anticipated smartphone launches has officially begun.
