Sony has confirmed the rumors of the last few weeks and has unveiled the new PS Plus subscription service, which will start operating in June in some countries and will gradually expand worldwide.

The new PS Plus is an amalgamation of the current PS Plus with the PS Now service, with the latter including titles from older versions of the PlayStation console. Basically, Sony is trying to offer something similar to Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass, but not in exactly the same format. The main difference between the two competitors is the fact that Sony will not offer new games to subscribers from the first day of their release.

In the new PS Plus there will be three different subscription packages, which offer different privileges to users for the corresponding price. These are the following:

PlayStation Plus Essential

Benefits

  • Provides the same benefits that PlayStation Plus members are getting today, such as:
    • Two monthly downloadable games
    • Exclusive discounts
    • Cloud storage for saved games
    • Online multiplayer access
  • There are no changes for existing PlayStation Plus members in this tier.

Price for PlayStation Plus Essential remains the same as the current price for PlayStation Plus.

PlayStation Plus Extra
