To achieve 'information dominance,' the Pentagon is integrating cloud computing and artificial intelligence with enormous data pools.

The Global Information Dominance Experiments (GIDE) is a new experimental initiative that blends artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and enormous data pools. GIDE 3 is the most recent version of GIDE, and the goal of the new program, according to US Northern Command Commander General Glen VanHerck, is to "achieve information dominance" and "decision-making superiority."

"What we've seen is the ability to get way further what I call left of being reactive to actually being proactive. And I'm talking not minutes and hours, I'm talking days. What we're doing is making that data available and shared into a cloud where machine learning and artificial intelligence look at it. And they process it really quickly and provide it to decision-makers, which I call decision superiority. This gives us days of advanced warning and ability to react," VanHerck said.

The General continued and said that GIDE provides him with "decision space," allowing VanHerck to develop deterrence tactics that are then presented to Secretary of Defense and President Joe Biden.
