TikTok is taking a major step forward in empowering creators with artificial intelligence, unveiling a suite of new features at its US Creator Summit. The updates aim to simplify video production, enhance monetization opportunities, and provide creators with smarter ways to plan and edit their content. Central to this announcement is Smart Split, a tool designed to automatically break long-form videos into shorter, shareable clips.

Smart Split leverages AI to handle the often tedious process of trimming, formatting, and captioning lengthy footage. While the feature works with any video longer than a minute, TikTok highlights its usefulness for podcasts, full-day vlogs captured by wearable cameras, or other content that traditionally requires extensive editing. Creators simply choose the sections of the video they want to highlight, and Smart Split takes care of the rest. The AI determines optimal clip lengths, generates captions, and even reframes horizontal footage into vertical formats, making it immediately suitable for TikTok’s mobile-first audience. This tool is now available worldwide through the TikTok Studio Web management platform, signaling TikTok’s commitment to giving creators more control over content production without relying on third-party editing software.

Alongside Smart Split, TikTok introduced AI Outline, an AI-driven planning tool designed to assist creators at the earliest stages of video production. Unlike Smart Split, AI Outline is used before recording begins, helping creators brainstorm and structure content. Users can generate video outlines from a prompt or by selecting trending topics on TikTok. The feature then produces suggested video titles, hashtags, hooks, and even script ideas. These suggestions serve as a starting point that creators can refine and adapt to their personal style, helping streamline the creative process while maximizing engagement potential. Currently, AI Outline is being rolled out on a limited basis to TikTok creators over 18 in the US, Canada, and select markets, with a wider release planned in the coming weeks.

In addition to these AI-powered creative tools, TikTok has also updated its revenue-sharing structure for subscription-based creators. Currently, creators who offer subscription perks such as exclusive content receive 70 percent of TikTok’s revenue share after fees. The new policy introduces additional incentives for high-performing creators. Those who meet criteria such as having at least 10,000 followers, accumulating 100,000 views in the previous month, and publishing at least three subscription-only videos in the same period will be eligible for enhanced monthly rewards. These creators can now increase their revenue share to up to 90 percent, providing a significant boost to top-performing accounts.

Together, Smart Split and AI Outline reflect TikTok’s broader strategy to integrate artificial intelligence into its platform in ways that simplify content creation and make production more efficient. Smart Split addresses the post-production bottleneck, transforming hours of long footage into engaging, digestible clips in minutes. Meanwhile, AI Outline provides guidance at the conceptual stage, helping creators develop content that is aligned with audience trends and platform dynamics. By combining these tools, TikTok is effectively shortening the content creation cycle while maintaining or even enhancing the quality of output.

The implications for creators are substantial. Podcasts, long-form vlogs, and recorded events that were once challenging to adapt for short-form platforms can now be automatically segmented, captioned, and formatted for TikTok. This allows creators to repurpose existing content for the platform, potentially reaching larger audiences without additional manual editing work. The AI-powered reframing also ensures that content remains optimized for vertical video consumption, which is crucial for maximizing engagement in TikTok’s feed-driven interface.

Furthermore, the enhanced subscription revenue model demonstrates TikTok’s commitment to supporting creators financially. By increasing the potential revenue share for qualified creators, the platform incentivizes consistent production and engagement with subscribers, reinforcing the ecosystem of exclusive content and fan support. Combined with AI-assisted production, these updates empower creators to focus more on creativity and audience engagement rather than technical or logistical challenges.

The rollout of these tools positions TikTok as a leading platform for leveraging AI in content creation. While competitors are experimenting with AI-assisted video editing and scripting, TikTok’s integration of Smart Split and AI Outline directly into the creator workflow makes the process seamless, accessible, and scalable. The platform’s focus on both the planning and editing stages underscores a holistic approach to AI integration, addressing the full spectrum of content creation needs.
