TikTok's latest update adds yet more reason to keep the app open on our phones. TikTok recently added group conversations and stickers to its direct messaging platform.

TikTok members could already exchange direct messages to one another, but group chats now allow you to start conversations with numerous users at once. The new functionality lets you form or join groups of up to 32 members. Everyone in the group may talk, share videos, and leave comments on TikTok videos in real time.

Group conversations, like direct messaging, are not available to people aged 13 to 15. Older teens (16-17) may utilize group chats, but there will be limitations. Here's how TikTok plans to prevent conversation with strangers using group chats:

  • Everyone, including teenagers, can only join a Group Chat through their pals.
  • If a teen is emailed a link to a group conversation, they will be unable to participate unless the group contains at least one mutual buddy. If they meet the eligibility requirements, they must make a proactive decision to join.
  • When a kid creates a group conversation, we will automatically need them to review and approve new members.

TikTok is providing muting and blocking features to all users to offer them more control over group discussions. It will also be possible to report individual messages or entire groups that violate the platform's guidelines.

Additionally, TikTok is adding stickers to direct messaging. You can make and post your own stickers to share with everyone on TikTok, or you can simply choose your favorites and use them to react to messages and videos your friends send you in direct messaging.
