In honor of Safer Internet Day, Tinder is introducing new tools that give users more choice over how they communicate with people on the dating app.
One of these options is "Incognito mode," which lets you swipe right or left on profiles without appearing in other people's suggestions until you've "loved" them as well. In this way, while browsing other profiles on Tinder, you have total control over who sees your account. Subscribers to Tinder+, Gold, and Platinum have access to incognito mode.
Additionally, the "Block Profile" option of Tinder will let you pick which users you want to see. This implies that you can block suggested profiles so they don't show up in your stream anymore (goodbye, seeing your boss or ex on Tinder!). In addition to the "Block Contacts" option, which enables users to specify which of their contacts they prefer not to see on Tinder, this feature is now available.
What's more, Tinder is making it easier for users to report bad behavior through "Long Press Reporting." You can tap and hold objectionable messages in this feature to immediately begin the reporting process. By making the reporting process easier, Tinder hopes to encourage more users to report inappropriate behavior.
Finally, Tinder is expanding the language that it considers damaging to include in its "Does This Bother you?" and "Are You Sure?" features, such as words and phrases connected to harassment and hate speech. When Tinder notices harmful conduct, a "Are You Sure?" notification appears before a message is delivered, and "Does This Bother you?" encourages users to report improper discussions.
