Meta has officially announced some changes regarding the user's status on WhatsApp, which it describes as a very popular service for sharing news with friends and family. Each status update disappears after 24 hours and can include photos, videos, GIFs, text, etc., and is also protected by end-to-end encryption for secure and private sharing.
- Privacy Audience Selector: A user's status may not always be appropriate for all their contacts to see, so from now on you can choose who it will be shown to each time you update it. The choice you make will be saved and ready as a default for the next time you change status, with the option of course to select different users at any time.
- Voice Status: Highlighted is the ability to record and share voice messages of up to 30 seconds in duration for use as status updates.
- Status Reactions: The ability to react to a status update with one of the eight available emoji is added, and you can always respond with text, voicemail, stickers, etc.
- Status Profile Rings for New Updates: With this lighted ring around your contacts' profile picture, you'll know how the status of each user has changed.
- Link Previews on Status: In case you include a link in the status, a preview will automatically appear as it happens in simple messages in chats. This way your contacts will be able to better understand what you want to show them.
The new features related to status updates on WhatsApp are gradually being launched to all users worldwide.
