Any instant messaging app might be quite difficult to use. Not only individual conversations accumulate daily across many platforms. We're a part of communities and groups as well. Furthermore, it's difficult to leave your work groups and family behind.

WhatsApp, the most widely used chat program worldwide, is crucial to all of that. WhatsApp offers a plethora of chat options, including customer assistance, groups, and private conversations. Finding the discussions you're truly interested in having may become more difficult as a result.

Meta's new Chat Filter functionality is now available for iPhone and Android users, addressing these issues. You'll quickly notice the filters at the top of the app, and you'll be able to rapidly access your important chats.

The Chat Filters tool will be recognizable to anyone who uses a similar method to navigate their email. As illustrated in the image above, the WhatsApp inbox will initially display three tabs at the top. That includes "All," "Unread," and "Groups." Meta explains them as follows:

  • All: The default view of all your messages.
  • Unread: Perfect for when you want to see which conversations you need to catch up on or respond to. It shows messages that are either marked by you as unread or haven’t been opened yet, so you can prioritize your responses.
  • Groups: Now all your group chats will be organized in one place, making it easier to find your favorites, whether it’s your weekly family dinner discussion or planning your next vacation. This highly requested feature will also show subgroups of Communities.

As you can see, WhatsApp Communities will appear as subgroups within the Groups section. That's an excellent method to begin organizing messages and make sense of your WhatsApp discussions. The ability to separate groups from regular talks may be the most useful aspect of the new Chat Filters tool.

Meta does state in its statement that it would start with these three filters. Perhaps more chat filters will become accessible in the future.

Meanwhile, you may have to wait till Chat Filters is available in your region. According to Meta, the filters began rolling out on Tuesday and will be available to everyone in the following weeks. This suggests that both the iPhone and Android applications will receive Chat Filters.
