The feature for multi-device support on WhatsApp is now rolling out to iPhone users, and it will allow them to link up to 4 devices to their WhatsApp account without the need to keep their phone online.

More specifically, WhatsApp’s new multi-device feature allows users to use WhatsApp on a desktop app or web without their primary phone being connected to the internet.

Users must update their WhatsApp to version 2.21.180.14 to participate in the multi-device beta. This version of the program is available for download from the Apple App Store at this link. You should be able to join the multi-device beta on iPhone, once you've updated to the newest version. To do so, take the following steps:

  • Open WhatsApp
  • Tap Settings in the bottom bar and then select Linked Devices.
  • Select the Multi-Device Beta section and tap on Join.
  • Once you agree to join, WhatsApp will log you out of your current linked sessions. You’ll then have to manually log in again to all of your WhatsApp web sessions.

You may need to scan the QR code twice when you link a new device. The messages will then be synced to your PC - the time of sync will vary based on the size of your message history. Once your sync is completed, you will be able to use WhatsApp on your linked device even if your iPhone is turned off.

It should be mentioned that you can only link up to four devices at a time. A linked device cannot be a smartphone; instead, it must be a macOS/Windows computer or a tablet.
