The WhatsApp service has been constantly enriched with new features over the past few years, in Meta's effort to capitalize on the momentum of the 2+ billion users who choose it for their conversations worldwide.

This time, the service's development team has started testing with some beta testers on Android devices for the screen sharing feature, which offers the ability to share in real-time whatever is happening on your device's screen with the person you're talking to during a video call.

The new feature is available through a new icon that appears at the bottom during the video conference, next to the familiar ones of muting the microphone, turning off/on the camera and switching the camera (front - back). Tapping on the new icon will inform WhatsApp that the latter will be able to see any passwords, photos, banking transactions and generally anything sensitive that you can share with your interlocutor. If you're okay with that, then you tap Start Now and screen sharing begins.

Note that there's no mention of iOS devices so far, nor whether screen sharing between different versions of WhatsApp (Android, iOS, desktop) will be supported in the final launch. It also appears that older Android models will not be supported.
