WhatsApp: Will raise group chat limit to 1024 users

Group chats on WhatsApp will be dramatically enhanced with the upcoming update of the service, as the limit of participating users will reach 1024. This means that the current limit of 512 users will be doubled, which of course remains far behind the competitor Telegram (200,000 xusers per group chat).

The limit extension was spotted by the WABetaInfo team in the code of the beta version that is already available for Android and iOS devices. Those of you participating in the Meta beta program will notice in the upper right corner of the screen that you can add up to 1023 users to the chat (1024 with you in it), but it is not yet clear whether you will be able to increase the limit on existing chats.

A group chat with up to 1024 participants can prove particularly useful in large businesses and organizations that employ and/or update large groups of users.
