Xiaomi's response to Samsung's foldable smartphones was immediate and highly impressive. The company today unveiled the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 in China, which is characterized as the thinnest foldable in the world and is reinforced with powerful technical features, despite the more compact construction they promise greater durability in its hinge and screens.

Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 has a 6.56' OLED E5 120Hz external screen with Gorilla Glass Victus coating, 1000nits brightness, and Dolby Vision compatibility, while the internal flexible screen unfolds to 8.02'' and comes with a new OLED LTPO 2nd Gen panel with a resolution of 2160 x 1914 called Eco OLED because it uses one less layer compared to conventional OLED screens to reduce the overall thickness. This reaches just 5.4mm when you hold the device open and rises to just 11.2mm when it is closed, a number far smaller than what we have seen so far in the foldable category.

Inside is the currently market-leading processor for Android devices, namely the Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 SoC, 12GB RAM, 256GB/512GB/1TB storage, WiFi 6 antennas, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, NFC, 5G, speakers stereo tuned by Harman Kardon, and a 4500mAh battery with 67W charging support (0-100% in about 40 minutes).

For the cameras of the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2, the company has again collaborated with Leica for lenses and filters, having installed a 50MP Sony IMX766 main sensor accompanied by a 13MP ultrawide + 8MP telephoto (2x optical zoom), while the front camera includes a sensor 20MP.

The Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 will launch in China immediately with the MIUI Fold 13 operating system based on Android 12, a version that is specially optimized for the larger size of the flexible internal screen.
