YouTube Music unveils the 2024 Music Recap for all users

The year 2024 is coming to end in a month, and the annual custom of viewing recaps of our digital lives has started. One of the names is YouTube Music, which has unveiled its 2024 Music Recap to help users understand their listening patterns and favourites over the course of the year.

This year is the fourth edition of YouTube Music Recap, which was initially introduced in 2021. Spotify, YouTube's competing site, was an early adoption of the "Recap" fad. Since 2016, the Swedish music streaming firm has released an annual compilation titled Spotify Wrapped.

The 2024 Music Recap is available through the YouTube and YouTube Music applications, and it provides personalised statistics for top artists, songs, moods, genres, albums, playlists, and more. To access your YouTube Music Recap 2024, tap on your profile image in the upper right corner, then select the "Your Recap" option from the menu.

YouTube stated that this year's recap has improved animations, photo quality, and podcast insights. Recap includes animated cards with personalised messaging for each user and new stats.

For example, the Listening description features a "personalised summary that encapsulates the essence of your listening habits over the year, describing your tastes in a way you've never seen before," according to YouTube.

Listening Timeline highlights major moments from the year, and the recap selects a music movie character based on your listening habits, favourite tracks, and artists. YouTube has increased the quality of photographs it selects from Google Photos for the music album section of the 2024 Recap.

For podcasts, 2024 Music Recap includes two new dedicated cards. These allow you to select your top podcast of the year and provide a summary of your top five podcasts. YouTube has also created a Gaming Recap for eligible users who use its gaming platform. They will be able to view their overall 2024 gaming watch time, top games, and creators, among other things.
