Adobe announced many Photoshop upgrades, focussing on smartphones and the web. Starting today, iPhone users may download a brand-new mobile app that includes many more capabilities copied directly from its desktop counterpart.

Although mobile Photoshop is not a new concept (Adobe Express has been around for more than a decade), today's version brings the mobile software much closer to what Photoshop delivers on the desktop. Layers, masks, AI-powered Generative Fill, and more features are available in the new Photoshop for iPhone. Adobe claims that the app was created from the ground up to provide consumers with an intuitive and simple mobile interface.

Although mobile Photoshop is not a new concept (Adobe Express has been around for over a decade), the current edition gets the mobile software considerably closer to what Photoshop offers on the desktop. The latest Photoshop for iPhone has layers, masks, and AI-powered Generative Fill, among other things. Adobe states that the app was designed from the ground up to give users an intuitive and easy mobile interface.

Paying Adobe $7.99 per month or $69.99 per year unlocks additional features such as the ability to switch from Photoshop mobile to Photoshop on the web, which has more features, expanded access to Firefly-powered tools (Generate Similar and Reference Image), thousands of fonts, Object Select, Magic Wand, Remove Tool, Clone Stamp, Content-Aware Fill, advanced blend modes, and tools for lightening or darkening image areas.

Existing Photoshop subscribers will receive free access to Photoshop mobile and web. The software is now only accessible on the iPhone, but Adobe plans to release it for Android later this year.
