Apple today introduced Tap to Pay on iPhone in Greece and Cyprus as well as in Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Iceland, Luxembourg, Malta and Iceland, allowing millions of merchants to use their iPhone to accept contactless payments securely and conveniently.

With Tap to Pay on iPhone, merchants can accept contactless payments through a supported iOS app on an iPhone XS or newer running the latest version of iOS. At checkout, the merchant will simply ask the customer to hold the contactless credit or debit card, iPhone, Apple Watch or other digital wallet near the merchant's iPhone and the payment will be securely completed using NFC technology.

No additional equipment is required, so merchants can accept payments from anywhere in their business. Apple is working closely with leading payment platforms and app developers to bring Tap to Pay to the iPhone. Payment platforms and developers can integrate Tap to Pay on iPhone into their iOS apps, making it easy for merchants to enable this secure and easy-to-use feature.

Tap to Pay on iPhone is available on the following platforms in Greece and Cyprus:

  • Greece: myPOS, Viva and Worldline, with NBG Pay coming soon
  • Cyprus: Adyen, Revolut, SumUp, Viva and Woldline
