Apple unveiled the new operating systems for almost all its devices with Liquid Glass design

Apple unveiled a gorgeous, new software design that makes apps and system experiences more expressive and enjoyable while remaining completely familiar. It is designed based on a new material, called Liquid Glass. This transparent material reflects and refracts its interface while dynamically transforming to help better focus on content, bringing a new level of vibrancy to controls, navigation, app icons, widgets and more. For the first time, the new design extends across all platforms - iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS Tahoe 26, watchOS 26 and tvOS 261 - to create even greater harmony while maintaining the distinct qualities that make each unique.

iOS 26

iOS 26 is a major update that brings a beautiful, new design, experiences and improvements to the apps people use on their iPhones every day. The new design provides a more expressive and enjoyable experience across the system while maintaining the familiarity of iOS. Built in throughout the system and built with privacy in mind, Apple Intelligence becomes even more capable. Updates to the Phone and Messages apps help users stay connected while reducing distractions. iOS 26 also introduces new features in CarPlay, Apple Music, Maps and Wallet, as well as Apple Games, a brand new app that gives users a single destination for all their games.

iPadOS 26

It is the largest iPadOS release ever, pushing the unique capabilities and flexibility of iPad even further. While maintaining the simplicity of iPad, iPadOS 26 introduces a completely new, powerful and intuitive windowing system with new features that help users control, organize and switch between applications. Apple Intelligence becomes even more capable and integrated throughout iPadOS 26. The enhanced Files app offers new ways to organize files and customize folders. And with folders in the dock, users can easily access downloads, documents and more from anywhere. The Preview app comes to iPad, giving users an exclusive app for viewing and editing PDFs, with powerful features like Apple Pencil Markup and AutoFill built in. And with Background Tasks, audio input option and local recording, iPadOS 26 unlocks new possibilities for creative professionals working with audio and video.

watchOS 26

watchOS 26 also features the new Liquid Glass design that makes features like Smart Stack, Control Center, Photos watch face and in-app navigation and controls more expressive while maintaining the familiarity of watchOS. Apple Intelligence enhances the fitness experience with Workout Buddy, which provides personalized, verbal motivation. The Workout app features a new layout and offers music to listen to based on user preferences and workout type. watchOS 26 makes everyday interactions even more convenient with Smart Stack hints , updates to Messages, and introduces a new one-handed gesture for easy dismissal of notifications.

macOS Tahoe 26

The next major release of macOS, macOS Tahoe 26 introduces a striking new design and powerful features that allow users to do even more. With the new design, iconic macOS elements will look more expressive, pleasing and personal while remaining completely familiar, including the desktop, Dock, in-app navigation and tools. The follow up gets even better with the Phone app arriving on the Mac, so users can access familiar features from the iPhone - including Recents, Contacts and Voicemails. Spotlight receives its biggest update ever, allowing users to instantly perform hundreds of actions - such as sending an email or creating a note - and take advantage of new browsing experiences for quick access to content.

The new operating systems are expected to be made available by Apple this fall.
