Users who decide to choose a Chromebook as their main computer, probably have a hard time keeping in mind how to play games on it, regardless of whether some support Android applications for casual gaming. However, Google is willing to go ahead with its project to brings the Steam platform to Chrome OS for the first time.

The company confirmed the rumors of recent weeks by announcing in 2022 Google for Games Developer Summit that it is working on Steam for Chrome OS and in fact has already released an alpha version that developers can try. Even so, only Chromebooks with an 11th generation (or later) Intel Core i5 processor and at least 7GB of RAM can access Steam.

It's still too early to draw conclusions about Steam functionality on Chromebooks, but it's impressive that Google is working on such a project for non-gaming devices. Besides, the company has its own game streaming service Stadia which is supposed to have been created for you to play from any screen by streaming the games from its servers.

It should be noted, however, that the use of Android applications on Chromebooks has increased by 50% compared to last year, mainly due to the optimization of some games for the big screen.
