Google has announced that it will bring several changes to the Gmail service, revealing a new unified user interface that will make it easier for users to switch between applications.
As you can see in the screenshot above, users will be prompted to optionally try out a new user experience for Gmail. Once they opt-in, this is the interface they'll get:
Later, you will notice that the apps (Mail, Chat, Spaces, Meet) will be placed in the left pane, while the options for labels and emails will now appear next to them too. As applications take a new position, you no longer need to switch between tabs or windows to use Chat or Meets, you can do that directly in the same browser window.
Additionally, notification bubbles will appear for each application. The new interface will be available to all users except Workspace Essentials customers. From February 8, users will start seeing the opt-in banner, whereas from April, even those who have not opted in will get the new user interface with the ability to roll back to the classic interface.
