Google Maps has introduced a few new options to give consumers greater control over their personal information. The navigation app now allows you to erase activities connected to specific locations and access location settings directly from the blue dot in the app.

According to the company, as users will soon be able to examine their recent activity linked to certain locations, allowing them to simply remove their searches, directions, trips, and shares with a few clicks. Assume you want to go to a bakery and utilize the app to get there. Soon, you will be able to see your recent bakery-related behavior and remove it all.

The blue dot on Google Maps that displays you where you are will soon be used to access location settings. When you click on it, you'll be able to check if your Location History or Timeline, a Maps feature that helps you recall locations you've visited, settings are enabled, as well as whether you've granted Maps access to your device's location.

Google adds that the option to erase location-related activities from Maps, as well as the new blue dot controls, will be available on Android and iOS in the coming weeks. Google Maps also revealed that if you have Location History enabled, your Time will soon be kept directly on your smartphone.

Furthermore, when you initially enable Location History, the auto-delete control is now set at three months by default. Previously, this option was set to 18 months.

According to Google, these modifications will be implemented progressively over the next year on Android and iOS. When this update is applied to a user's account, they will be notified.
