Google Meet adds new immersive backgrounds

Google Meet has introduced new immersive backgrounds and styles, allowing Web users to change their backgrounds while on a video call. The platform has added two new animated backgrounds, Cafe and Condo, to help users represent their current time zone and climate. Both interiors will feature various iterations, including rain, sun, and snow, as well as morning and night time zones.

According to Google, the five new immersive, subtle animations will make a background livelier or change the lighting settings. Google Meet desktop users may choose from the effects settings panel Condo (morning or night) and Cafe (Rainy, Snowy, or Sunny) for animated video backdrops before joining or during a call.

The new backgrounds and styles will be rolling out to Google Workspace customers and G Suite Basic and Business users in the coming weeks. These new features are coming first to the Google Meet on the web.
