Google has long been able to assist with homework, and Lens includes a step-by-step math solver. Google Search is now becoming more proficient in trigonometry, calculus, geometry, and physics.
According to Google, Search now offers additional assistance in "subjects like trigonometry and calculus." After you enter an equation or integral into the Search bar or take a picture of the problem with Lens, a step-by-step explanation and solution will appear. You can also type "math solver" to try the experience on desktop and, soon, mobile.
Meanwhile, Google Lens can now "interpret both the visual and text components" of triangle problems in geometry. Taking a photograph is a more natural option than writing a "written query that describes your visual problem."
Google is also using large language models (LLMs) to help Search better answer high school physics word problems.Google implemented Pathways Language Model (PaLM) into Bard in March to increase math and reasoning capabilities. This enabled solutions to multi-step word and math problems.
Today's innovation will assist users in "identifying the known and unknown values," as well as "understanding which formulas to use and when" so that they can handle these problems more effectively in the future.
