In celebration of the 20th anniversary of Safer Internet Day, an initiative launched in 2003 to inform and educate users about safe and appropriate Internet browsing, Google has decided to make a number of changes to its Google Search engine that are mainly intended to enhance the protection of underage users, but also to make it much easier for their guardians to set up parental controls.
Google will activate SafeSearch, that is to say, the function of protecting accounts from the display of inappropriate images, from the outset on all accounts of underage users, even if it was not activated by them or their parents. This means that in their searches all inappropriate images will be blurred. The same application will also apply to those who perform Google Search searches without being logged into their Google account (e.g. in Incognito mode in the Chrome browser).
In addition, Google has added a new playlist with a wealth of educational videos to the YouTube Kids app, which have been specially created to be easily understood by young children and novice users alike in order to learn more about responsible and safe Internet browsing and the use of technology in general.
