Instagram will finally allow users to post photos and videos through a browser, and not exclusively from the mobile app. The new feature is expected to be launched globally within the week.
Previously, users could view their Instagram feed through the browser, but just for chatting and monitoring updates. For years, Instagram was a phone-only app, but as the creator economy took off, the platform needed to evolve to allow for greater flexibility.
The company also announced the new Collabs feature, which will allow users to share a post or a Reel. In fact, two accounts will be able to co-author a post or a Reel which will appear to followers of both creators and share the same comment thread, as well as view and like counts. Collabs are enabled from the tagging screen, after which the second account will have to accept the invite.
Finally, a new way to raise money for a cause is added by creating a cashier directly from Instagram and the platform gets new music features, with additional effects like Superbeat which adds lyrics and effects to a video based on the rhythm of a song.
