Meta is upgrading the Instagram app for iOS devices by incorporating a new feature that will make it even easier to delete the account directly from the device. Until recently, if a user of the service wanted to delete their account, they had to use either the desktop or the web version of Instagram on their computer.

The addition of instant account deletion was made in the context of Apple's App Store policy change, which now obliges developers to offer a clear and immediate way to completely delete accounts from their applications, if of course the latter offer the ability to create an account.

According to Apple, the new requirement gives users more control over their personal data and emphasizes that their account will indeed be completely deleted from developers' databases along with any other data associated with it. He also notes that temporarily withdrawing or deactivating accounts is no longer enough to be sure of your data.

Therefore, in contrast to the temporary deactivation of the account, the total deletion means that you permanently lose the username you use on Instagram, as well as all the posts and personal information you have shared with the platform (e.g. phone number, address e-mail). You can, however, download a copy of your data (photos and videos) that you will receive via a link within 14 days. Instagram gives you 30 days to change your mind.
