Meta is working hard to improve the Instagram platform, not only in terms of features, but also in terms of the safety of the platform's teenage users. The company announced new digital wellbeing and parenting control tools, which are immediately available to everyone.

Meta's moves are not entirely accidental, as it is under particular pressure from the latest complaints that have been made about its services in general, with the accusation that they are harmful especially for teenage users. That's why he collaborates with several famous content creators in order to use their recognizability and convince teenagers to activate the Take a Break function.

The new tools coming to Instagram are:

  • Parents can send invitations to teens to enable parental control tools. Until recently it was up to the teenagers to invite their parents.
  • Parents can view additional information about the accounts and posts that teens have reported as malicious. Should a teen report an account or post, parents will be automatically notified of the reasons that led them to do so.
  • Parents will be able to schedule Instagram usage time and set clear boundaries.
  • Teen user accounts will receive notifications from Instagram urging them to follow other topics, if the algorithm realizes that they only insist on the same topic in the Explore section.
  • Instagram will remind teen users to turn on the Take a Break feature so they can take a break from using the service.
