Spotify is rolling out a significant update to its mobile app, offering Premium users enhanced control over their playlists and a more personalized music discovery experience. The update, which is being released gradually across devices starting today, introduces several new features and interface tweaks designed to make listening easier, smarter, and more enjoyable.

A central component of the update is the redesigned Queue interface. Located under the familiar three-line icon on the Now Playing screen, the upgraded Queue now provides quicker access to essential features like Shuffle, Smart Shuffle, Repeat, and Sleep Timer. Premium users will also benefit from a new tool that previews which songs Spotify’s algorithm has selected to play after the current playlist ends—allowing users to approve or skip upcoming tracks. Additionally, the ability to toggle Autoplay and Smart Shuffle directly from this interface provides more customization than ever before.

Spotify is also improving its content control features. The "Hide" button, which lets users block songs from a playlist, will now sync across all connected devices. A newly introduced “30-day Snooze” feature allows users to temporarily remove a song from recommendations, ideal for those tracks that might be overplayed but not permanently unwanted.

Playlist editing has also become more intuitive. New buttons at the top of each playlist—Add, Sort, and Edit—make it easier to reorganize tracks, change playlist titles, and even update album artwork. In select countries (including the U.S., U.K., Canada, Australia, and others), users can now filter their Liked Songs by genre and convert them directly into playlists with a single tap.

The Create "+" button has been redesigned as a central hub for playlist creation. With it, users can quickly start a new playlist, invite friends to collaborate, launch a Blend session, or use Spotify’s Jam feature for live music sharing. There's also integration with AI Playlists, letting users build playlists from creative prompts for a more tailored experience.

Additionally, the "Your Library" tab has found a new home, becoming the third icon at the bottom of the app's navigation bar—part of Spotify’s ongoing efforts to simplify app navigation and content access.

These changes come just after Spotify launched its new "Plays" metric for podcasts, allowing both listeners and creators to see how many times an episode has been played. The feature aims to boost discoverability of engaging content while helping podcasters track performance.

Overall, this update reflects Spotify's continued investment in user experience and customization, especially for its Premium tier. As the competition among streaming platforms heats up, giving users more control and smarter tools may help Spotify maintain its leadership in the digital music space.
