Time is restricted in how humans see it. When we reflect about our own or previous generations' lives, we frequently use intelligible time units like hours, days, and years. However, even centuries and decades only make up a tiny portion of the universe's history and are completely insufficient when considering its almost 14 billion-year past.

A recent short film by Wylie Overstreet and Alex Gorosh (previously) aids in understanding the vastness of the cosmos' formation outside of time and space. In "To Scale: TIME," a film that has taken four years to make, little lights are installed along a 4.3-mile stretch of the Mojave Desert to create a chronology of human history and the cosmos as a whole. The finished piece depicts the enormity of 13.8 billion years and serves as a sobering reminder of how little people are in both time and space. It is enhanced with images of galaxies and historical events.

On YouTube, Gorosh and Overstreet also release a making-of video that details their creative process along with the movie. "To Scale: TIME" is the second model-based work in the duo's series and comes after their stunning solar system representation.
