Last year the WhatsApp service added the ability to transfer your chat history from iOS devices to Android devices and now Mark Zuckerberg announces that the beta tests for the reverse route (from Android to iOS) are starting.

This means that we will have to wait a little longer for the tests to be completed and for the transfer function to reach the final version of the popular service. However, those who use the beta version of WhatsApp (2.22.7.74 on Android and 2.22.10.70 on iOS) can try it now as long as they know the following:

  • Requires Android device with Android 5 Lollipop operating system or later to transfer to iOS 15.5 device or later.
  • The same phone number should be used.
  • Portability is only supported when it comes to a new iPhone or iPhone that has been reset to factory defaults.
  • The transfer is done through the Move to iOS application for Android devices.
  • Both devices must be plugged into their charger and connected to the same WiFi network.

Note that all data transferred remains protected by end-to-end encryption. After the transfer is completed, the data is not automatically deleted from the Android device (it must be done manually by the user).
