From time to time the WhatsApp app stops supporting older Android and iOS devices in the sense that the app no longer accepts any more updates and many times it does not even open for the device owner to use.

Shortly before 2022 expires, Meta announced that from January 1, 2023, WhatsApp support will stop for approximately 50 devices from Apple, Samsung, HUAWEI, LG, Sony, ZTE, HTC, Lenovo and Alcatel, while in general it will be required by smartphones and iOS devices running at least Android 5.0 Lollipop and iOS 12 respectively.

Before we move on to the relevant list, let us mention that if you are using an old smartphone, it would be a good idea to check if it receives security updates. Otherwise, not being able to use WhatsApp is the least bad thing that can happen to your accounts…
